1) Do your homework.
We ask that you please read this site thoroughly and know the boundaries
are on magic, culture, and setting. Example: If it says only Necromancers
are capable of summoning dragons and you are playing a druid, do not write
your character summons one. These limitations were set up as rich soil in
which to grow gripping tales, not to limit your writing. Nothing brings a
plot quicker to a screeching halt than confusion on the bedrock facts.
2)Write with everyone in the story.
This is a broad topic that ripples into many areas but all which can bring
stories to their knees. Please do not come to the Vale of the Enclave story
to shack up with one character that has caught your eye. Do not write only
to one person's posts, diminishing or ignoring the writing of others in the
scene.
3) Be conflict-friendly... ie. action junkie.
Stories revolve around conflicts happening and then being solved. Without
conflict, there is no story. Some writers engage in roleplay where they seek
to enact out 'perfect world fantasies. Their character is beautiful, rich,
powerful and happy beyond their wildest dreams usually starting a family.
Although characters in the Vale may touch on some of these attributes, they
will constantly be put to the test, have the rug jerked out from beneath them,
and often be in jeopardy of some form. If conflicts bother you, look for another
storyline to join. We will disturb you.
4) Tear it up.
Let your passion guide you. And if you have fever; go with it.
